Croissants & Castanets

For a couple new to international travel, this journey across Spain and France was all about curiosity, connection, and learning how to slow down while still seeing the things that matter. They came to me with one guiding philosophy: “We may never come back here again.” It wasn’t about racing through a checklist. It was about finding what makes each place special and soaking it in fully.

We began in Madrid, where history meets energy. They walked the grand boulevards, visited the Prado Museum, and tasted their way through the stalls of Mercado de San Miguel. I gave them a few gentle tips on navigating the Metro so they could explore like locals, but I also arranged private transfers when it made sense to give them more ease and less stress.

From Madrid, they traveled to Barcelona. Submerged in the perfect mix of art, food, and coastline, they explored Gaudí’s most iconic works, from the surreal spires of Sagrada Família to the whimsy of Park Güell. Their hotel was centrally located so they could step right outside and start wandering. I built in plenty of open mornings and space to roam, so even with the highlights built in, the trip still felt like theirs.

Next came a quieter stop in Tortosa, where they could rest, reflect, and connect with the slower side of Spain before heading off to the city of lights. In Paris, they embraced café culture, got up early to visit the Louvre, and watched the Eiffel Tower sparkle at night. Their boutique hotel was tucked just steps from some of the city’s most beautiful neighborhoods, making it easy to explore without feeling overwhelmed.

Throughout the entire trip, they had the best of both worlds. I helped them get comfortable with public transportation and built in a few guided moments to anchor their days, but I also handled the bigger logistics — hotel selection, transfers, timing — so they didn’t have to. Every decision was made to help them spend more time being present and less time figuring out train schedules or navigating airport chaos.

They came home with full hearts, a new sense of confidence, and stories they’ll be telling for years. This wasn’t just a trip to Spain and France. It was a real leap into the world. And now that they’ve taken it, they’re already dreaming of where to go next.
